Your Methodology, Turned Into Field-Ready Forms

We design, configure and deploy the digital data collection layer for your carbon and sustainability projects: offline-capable, GPS-validated, and built to satisfy the standard you’re certifying against.

Most Data Problems Start in the Field

By the time a verifier finds a problem, it is expensive. A field missing from a survey form, a plot recorded without coordinates, a moisture sample logged in a notebook that never made it back; these are the failures that force re-surveys, delay issuance, and erode confidence in a project.
The root cause is almost never the field team. It is that the collection instrument was never properly derived from the methodology in the first place.
FDC is Kyoto Network’s field data collection service. We take your methodology and build the collection layer around it; mobile forms that work entirely offline, GPS validation and geofencing configured to your plot boundaries, lab workflows integrated, and your field teams trained on the instrument they’ll actually use.

Where FDC Sits

FDC owns the first stage of the evidence pipeline i.e. getting the right data, correctly structured and located, out of the field. From there it can be integrated into Verify.KyoGreen, our evidence platform, which validates, calculates and proves it.

What We Deliver

FDC is a service, not a download. We configure the collection layer around your methodology and hand you an instrument your field teams can use on day one.

Methodology-Derived Forms

We start from the standard you’re certifying against and work backwards so every field on the form exists because a methodology requires it, and nothing a verifier will ask for is missing.

Offline-First Deployment

Mobile forms that work with no connectivity at all, then sync automatically when a signal returns. Built for sites where a data connection is the exception, not the rule.

GPS & Geofence Configuration

We plot your project boundaries and configure polygon geofencing and distance-from-centroid rules, so every observation can be tied to a provable location as it is captured.

Survey Protocol Design

Multi-day surveys are where protocols break down. We build them to run correctly the first time: sequenced across repeat visits, configured separately for each site type, and structured so the data holds together as one dataset at the end.

Lab Workflow Integration

Sample handling captured end to end: lab results and corrections are traceable rather than reconstructed later from spreadsheets.

Schema Configuration

New methodology, new project type, new region - we configure the schema rather than rebuilding from scratch, so additional project types are additive, not a fresh engagement every time.

Field Team Enablement

Your crews are trained on the exact instrument they’ll be using, with validation rules that catch errors at the point of entry rather than months later at verification.

Platform-Ready Output

Data arrives structured and schema-conformant, ready to flow straight into Verify.KyoGreen for validation, calculation and cryptographic integrity with no reformatting step in between.

Project Types We Configure For

Our approach is methodology-agnostic. A new project type means configuring a schema, not starting over.

Afforestation, Reforestation & Revegetation
Plot observations, biomass sampling, lab drying, allometric inputs.
Biogas / Renewable Energy
Household, school and dairy baseline surveys (KPT / RBM).
Agroforestry
Tree density, crop yield, soil carbon monitoring.
Biodiversity
Species identification, habitat assessments.
Soil Carbon
Regenerative agriculture sampling, bulk density.
Supply Chain / Scope 3
Supplier surveys, transport logs, energy audits.
Waste Management
Waste characterisation, landfill gas monitoring, composting verification, feedstock assessments.

Who FDC Is For

Anyone whose project depends on field data that has to survive scrutiny who would rather get it right at the point of collection than fix it at verification.

Project Developers

Move off paper and spreadsheets without building a data team across various methodologies.

NGOs & Implementation Partners

Run credible field programmes with instruments your crews can actually use in the environments you work in.

Carbon Consultancies

Standardise collection across a portfolio of projects instead of rebuilding survey tooling for every client.

Corporate Sustainability Teams

Capture supplier, transport and energy data at source for Scope 3 and ESG reporting that stands up.

Agricultural Programmes

Soil health, regenerative practice verification and input-use tracking: structured, plot-level, offline-capable.

Development Finance Institutions

Bring consistent, comparable field data collection across a portfolio of funded projects.

Why FDC

Data collection looks like the simple part of a carbon project. It is where most of the expensive problems are created.

01 — Methodology First, Form Second

We build backwards from the standard you’re certifying against. The form exists to satisfy the methodology, not the other way round.

02 — Proven in the Hardest Conditions

Our forms are live in Sudan and Kenya in remote, low-connectivity areas. If it works there, it will work on your site.

03 — Errors Caught at the Point of Entry

Validation rules and geofence checks flag problems while the crew is still on site when fixing them costs a minute, not a re-survey.

04 — A Service, Not Software to Learn

You don't need a data team or a form-building capability. We configure it, deploy it, and train your crews on the instrument they'll use.

05 — A Clean Handover

Data arrives structured and schema-conformant; ready to flow straight into Verify.KyoGreen, or to be exported into your own systems.

Better Together

FDC gets the data. Verify.KyoGreen proves it.

Collection is stage one. Verify.KyoGreen takes that data through validation, supervisor approval, methodology-specific calculation and cryptographic integrity, producing a registry-ready record with an unbroken audit trail from the field to issuance. Take the service on its own, or run the full pipeline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is FDC a product I license, or a service?
A service. We design, configure and deploy the collection layer for your project: forms, geofencing, validation rules, lab workflows and field team training. You get a working instrument, not a toolkit to build one with.
Do the forms really work offline?
Yes - entirely. Crews collect for as long as needed with no connection at all, and submissions sync automatically once a signal returns. This is how our Sudan deployment operates.
Which methodologies can you configure for?
We are currently deployed for Verra VM0047 (ARR) and Gold Standard biogas protocols including the KPT and Representative Bundle Method, with configurable schemas for agroforestry, soil carbon, biodiversity, waste management and Scope 3 supply-chain data.
Do I have to use Verify.KyoGreen as well?
No. FDC can be engaged on its own, and collected data can be exported for use in your own systems. Most clients run both, because the value compounds when collection feeds directly into validation, calculation and cryptographic integrity without a reformatting step.
How long does it take to get a project collecting?
It depends on methodology complexity and the number of site types involved. Because we configure schemas rather than build from scratch, an additional project type on an existing methodology is considerably faster than the first. Talk to us with your methodology and site profile and we can be specific.

Get it right at the point of collection.

Tell us your methodology and where you’re working. We’ll design the collection layer around it and your field teams will be capturing verification-grade data, offline, from day one.
